Designed by Kerstin Thompson Architects, Erskine River House is a quiet retreat immersed in the bushland surrounding Victoria's coastal township of Lorne. Conceived as both a refuge and a place of contemplation, the home embraces simplicity, natural light and a restrained material palette, allowing the surrounding landscape to become an integral part of the experience.
Compact in scale yet rich in atmosphere, the home pairs precast concrete with spotted gum joinery, creating interiors that feel both protective and open. Carefully framed views, concealed joinery and soft transitions between spaces encourage a slower rhythm of living, where architecture quietly recedes and nature takes precedence.
Featured within the bathroom, Loom Towels' Ecru Stripe Bath Towel complements the home's warm timber finishes and pared-back palette. Its understated woven texture introduces softness against the concrete and timber, reinforcing the project's calm, tactile and enduring design language.
